Types of Trusts

Single Trust
A single living trust involves just one individual and acts as a flexible estate planning tool that manages and protects his/her assets. In legal and financial contexts, a single trust refers to a trust entity that holds assets and operates under its own set of terms, governing how those assets are managed and
distributed according to the wishes of the Settlor.
A single trust is created for one’s personal care or for the maintenance of family members.

Family Trust
A family trust fund is a legal arrangement whereby assets are held by a trustee on behalf of beneficiaries who are typically members of a family. Family trusts are often set up by individuals or couples as they provide flexibility and protection for future generations. The primary purposes of a family trust
include asset protection, estate planning, tax planning, and control and management of assets during the Settlor’s lifetime and after his/her demise.
This trust can vary widely based on the goals of the Settlor and the needs of the beneficiaries involved.

Charity Trust
Charity trust is known as a legal entity set up for charitable purposes. The beneficiaries of a charity trust are typically the charitable organizations and they receive the benefits of the trust’s assets in accordance with the terms set out by the Settlor.
Typically, charitable purposes include relieving poverty, advancing education, promoting religion, providing healthcare, supporting the arts, or any other purpose that benefits the community or a segment of the public.

Special Needs Trust
A special needs trust is specifically designed to provide for the financial needs of a person with a disability or special needs (OKU). Special needs trusts are commonly established by a parent, grandparent, or guardian and are crucial in ensuring that individuals with disabilities can receive additional financial support while still retaining access to essential government benefits that provide for their basic needs. The key feature of a special needs trust includes enhancing the quality of life. For example, the trust can be structured to provide for a wide range of expenses, including medical and dental expenses which are not covered by government programs.

Buy-Sell Trust
The buy-sell trust is a legally binding contract between business owners whereby it is mutually agreed on a fair value to buy over each other’s business if any one of them exits (due to death, critical illness or total permanent disability).
The said trust is mainly used to stipulate the reassignment of a partner’s
share in a business.

Pet Trust
An honorary pet trust involves appointing a guardian and allocating funds or anything else that is needed to take care of the welfare of your beloved pets.
In the pet trust, the pet is the direct beneficiary of the trust while the trust allows you to take control over the future care of your pets as you are able to specify the type of care that the pet will receive as well as the disposition of the remains of the pet after it dies.

Insurance Trust
An insurance trust is a trust that holds a life insurance policy on behalf of the insured person (the Settlor) for the benefit of one or more beneficiaries. The primary purpose of an insurance trust is to manage the proceeds of a life insurance policy outside of the insured's estate, thereby potentially reducing estate taxes and ensuring the efficient
distribution of assets upon the insured's demise. Insurance trusts are often used as part of estate
planning strategies to preserve wealth, provide liquidity for estate taxes, and ensure that beneficiaries receive the intended benefits of life insurance policies without complications or delays.
